As for how I came to specialize in Thai Massage…

Upon passing by a Thai Massage booth at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in 2012, my thirst for knowledge lead me to study Thai Massage at the Still Light Centre in Toronto. I began working a as a Thai Massage Practitioner in 2014 at Urban Nirvana, which became Chintamani Wellness. In 2018 my dreams came true as I had the opportunity to Study in Chiang Mai, Thailand at International Training Massage School (ITM) and was awarded a Diploma in the Certified Advanced Thai Practitioner and Teacher Training Program (CAPT) accredited by the Board of Education in Thailand. I embarked on an immersive study of Thai Culture and Traditional Thai Healing Arts which included Mantras, Nuad Boran (Ancient style Thai Massage/ Traditional Thai Massage), Thai Spa Body Treatments (Facials, Wraps and Scrubs), Scraping, Tok Sen (Meridian line work), Luk Pra Kob (Herbal Compress) and Yam Khang (Fire Foot Massage-Refer to images on the left). Upon returning to Toronto in 2018 I had the pleasure of doing a work/study with the Ontario Association of Thai Massage, at Shivaga Thai Massage, learning Traditional Thai Massage in a more clinical style and specializing in chronic pain management.

What I love most about Thai Massage is that it is done in meditation. Massage in general provides many benefits including increased circulation and reduced edema, increased feeling of relaxation, pain reduction, stress management, helps one to sleep better etc. Lanna style Thai stretches add another component to the massage by increasing flexibility and range of motion, helping to release fascial restrictions and even bettering lung capacity from breathwork. Energy meridian line work and ayurvedic dosha balancing during the massage reminds the body of what balance feels like, to help the body’s many systems to operate at its optimal capacity. Focused awareness from the client and practitioner allows for deeper work to be effected which creates a continual impact on a person’s wellbeing off of the massage mat.
